Our Story

Chef José Godoy's passion for culinary excellence began long before JGoody Cafe Bakery was founded. With an extensive background in luxury resorts, hotels, and international cruise lines, José built his career creating exceptional dining experiences around the world.

Throughout his career, he served as a Pastry Supervisor with Mediterranean Shipping Cruises and held leadership positions in renowned hotels, including the Real InterContinental Hotel in Guatemala City, Guatemala. His years of experience allowed him to master the art of creating high-quality dishes and pastries using fresh ingredients and thoughtful preparation.

Driven by the dream of owning his own restaurant, José immigrated to the United States with a vision: to create a welcoming café where guests could enjoy fresh, homemade meals, handcrafted pastries, premium Guatemalan coffee, and desserts made with less sugar and more flavor.

That dream became a reality when he partnered with his wife, Mayra. Bringing over two decades of experience in business management, finance, operations, and customer service, Mayra provided the expertise needed to transform José's vision into a thriving family business.

Together, José and Mayra founded JGoody Cafe Bakery with a simple mission: to serve delicious food made from quality ingredients while creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere where every guest feels like family.

Today, JGoody Cafe Bakery proudly blends American comfort food with Latin soul, offering fresh-made breakfasts, lunches, European-inspired pastries, and authentic Guatemalan coffee to the Oldsmar community and beyond.
